The New York Chinese Chamber of Commerce celebrates the Asia-Pacific Heritage Month, promotes Asian identity, promotes ethnic harmony, promotes Asian culture, and revitalizes the community economy, specifically scheduled for May 28th (Saturday at 11am) At 4 o’clock in the afternoon, the Confucius Plaza will host the Asia-Pacific Traditional Month Celebration, and we warmly welcome you to participate. Every May, each year is the Asian-Pacific American Heritage Month, which celebrates the culture, traditions and history of Asian-American Americans. The establishment of the Asia-Pacific month began in 1977. In the same year, the House and Senate passed a bill respectively, stipulating that the first 10 days of May will be the “Asia-Pacific Heritage Week”, and the next year, the signature of President Carter will take effect. The main reason for choosing May as the Asia-Pacific month was that the Continental Railway, which traversed the United States, was celebrated on May 10, 1869, while the main force for the construction of the Continental Railway was Chinese immigrants. In 1990, President Bush change the Asia-Pacific Week to Asia-Pacific Month and officially signed the bill in 1992. The “Asia-Pacific Heritage Month” has continued to this day. The day’s celebrations feature cultural booths that showcase the Chinese culture, as well as booths from various sponsors, providing information on various services and products.
